Kind Words for Your Water

We often assume we understand water. It's simple, and at the same time it's complex. Its mysteries are just starting to unfold before us.
Water is known to have a memory, just like crystals have. Both will absorb energy and vibrations, including emotions, thoughts and beliefs.
Dr. Masaru Emoto showed this in his amazing book, The Hidden Messages in Water. He froze water with words attached to the glass, and photographed the crystals that formed. The beautiful ones came from words like "Thank you," "wisdom and truth," and "I love you." And there was one of polluted water, photographed again after a prayer. Suddenly it was looking much better.
So when I teach this, I ask my students to ask their Higher Self a few questions. Would my body be happy if I bless my water? Would my body be happy if I pray over my water? Would learning about the energy of water be good for me?
People all over the world have long blessed their water, or set an intention for it, before drinking it. You can hold a sense of gratitude before you drink. You can offer a prayer, or a positive affirmation like "I am grateful." You can even write a word like "love" or "gratitude" on your water bottle.
Water has a spiritual side too. In Hinduism, bathing in the sacred waters of the Ganges River is believed to cleanse one's karma. On many of my trips to India, I would bathe in the Ganges River. One time stands out. I was staying in a cabin right on the bank of the Ganges, high up in the Himalayan mountains, where the river is less than 50 feet across and only a couple of feet deep.
When I went out to bathe in the river, it was ice cold, fresh from the glacier. I slowly got in and squatted down, so the water was up to my neck. And I stayed in the flow of the river for about 15 minutes, meditating very deeply on the Gayatri mantra. After a while, I felt this powerful energy, like electricity, flowing right through my whole body.
Then I noticed a monk had come to the riverbank, doing his morning washing. When I came out of the river, he was amazed. He'd been watching me for a while. He said he could only take the cold water for a few minutes at a time. And when I told him which mantra I was using, he understood right away.
If you'd like to learn more, I strongly recommend Dr. Emoto's The Hidden Messages in Water. And for the recent discoveries about water's special properties, I also recommend Gerald Pollack's book, The Fourth Phase of Water. I've read both books, and I really appreciate them.
Something to try
Before you drink your next glass of water, hold it for a moment. Say a kind word to it, out loud or in your mind. "Thank you." Or "I love you." Then drink it, and notice how it feels.
It turns a glass of water into a moment of gratitude. You can do it with the next glass you pour, right now, or with your first glass tomorrow morning.
Some of you have already started on this path, and for some of you it's brand new. Either way is okay. Just try it and see.
